In what is called a reprieve, the High Court today declined to intervene in Telangana Government’s proposal to shift the Erragadda Chest Hospital to Vikarabad and Secretariat to Erragadda.
With this, those political parties making a hue and cry over the issue are likely to keep quiet for some time. Reacting on a petition filed by BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy here, the court maintained it cannot put its head into the issue as the proposal is not against the Act. The Congress, Telugu Desam and Left parties opposed the move, while BJP was contemplating to move Supreme Court on the issue.
The Court reportedly felt it was better the Chest Hospital is shifted away from the heart of the city. The court also opined that there are no proper reasons to issue stay orders against the proposal of shifting the hospital. It may be mentioned here that the Government has already issued orders to shift Chest Hospital and took a decision to construct a new Secretariat at Erragadda by taking over the land. It is pertinent to note that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken a decision and asked the officials to make necessary measures in this regard.
Taking a cue from KCR, the officials have already begun an exercise preparing suitable plans to construct new Secretariat complex and skyscrapers at the existing Secretariat. (NSS)
