Cheques will prevent suicides by farmers

“Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has launched Rythu Bandhu scheme to prevent suicides by farmers and help increase agriculture production by providing all facilities”, Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy said today.

The Health Minister distributed cheques and land passbooks to farmers in Mallepally under Rajapur mandal of Jadcherla segment here under Rythu Bandhu scheme. He appealed to the farmers not to resort to extreme steps and make use of the cheques for crop investment and increase farm production. Lakshma Reddy said the farmers should make use of cheques to reap in golden harvest besides being wary of Congress conspiracies against their welfare, he said. He attributed the farmers’ suicides to the lopsided policies of the Congress regime and failure to provide crop investment, marriage assistance, fertilisers, seeds and power. “We are offering KG to PG education and offering 1.25 lakh jobs and employment”, he added.

“The Congress was insulting the farmers by saying they are drunkards and misuse the Rythu Bandhu Cheques. Farmers should chase away such leaders if they come to the villages and stall growth”, he said, adding that only Telangana State government has come up with a unique scheme of cheques to provide financial assistance of Rs 4000 per acre and stop the difficulties of loans. In addition to 24 hours power supply, the KCR Government has launched the cheques scheme only to rejuvenate the farming sector in Telangana. The entire country was looking at Telanagana State for implementing several schemes for farmers, poor and other sections, he claimed.

The minister listed several schemes such as Kalyana Lakshmi, Shadi Mubarak giving Rs 1.16 lakh towards marriage of poor girls, supplying fine rice to students in hostels, giving Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 pensions to old age, widows and physically challenged and others. KCR Kits has significantly increased institutional deliveries as they get Rs 12,000 on giving birth to a baby boy and Rs 13,000 for baby girl and shifting the mother and child at their doorsteps. Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha are proving successful to support minor irrigation and get potable waters at people’s doorsteps respectively, he added. (NSS)
