Chennai Marathon flags off

Chennai, August 29: Around 10,0000 people in Chennai joined hand for a noble cause on Sunday.

Chennai wake up Sunday morning to participate in Marg-GiveLife Chennai Marathon to help underprivileged kids.

Organised by Tamil Maiyam, the Marg-GiveLife Chennai Marathon kicked off on Sunday morning.

The 21 kms marathon run, which is a star-studded affair, will end at the Anna Square on the Marina beach.

Several politicians, film stars, sportspersons and eminent citizens have been participating to lend their hand for the noble cause. The professional athletes will run the 21 kms while elders, kids will run 7 kms.

The prominent professionals participating in the event are Sunil Kumar, Yugender, Preethi Rao Rajeshwari Patil, Ajay Kumar, Saji Mathew, Pama Chanda.

The state level athletes Lakshmanan, Rajesh, Ezhil Nilavan, M. Sudha, Surya, Geetha and Padmavathy are also trying their luck in the 21 kms run.

Actors Priyamani, Sneha Arya, and sportsmen like Robinson (basketball), Raman Vijayan (football) and Navin (volleyball) have also been participating in the marathon. Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Mohideen Khan and MP Aladi Aruna along with Chennai Mayor Subramanyan flagged off the events.

NGO Tamil Maiyam had introduced the Chennai Marathon couple of years ago to raise the fund for underprivileged kids.
