Mumbai, February 21: Chennai Customs rallied from a 20-41 hole at half time to win 75-70 against Vijaya Bank in the opening men’s match of the 26th UPL-Ramu Memorial Basketball tournament at the Indian Gymkhana court today.
In the inaugural match of the tournament, Amchi Mumbai, a combination of the two women’s railway outfits, Western and Central, and a few players from the clubs in Thane, packed too many guns against Karnataka, winning 67-48 after holding a 30-point advantage at half time.
Customs struggled against the superior rebounding and set plays of Vijaya Bank. They increased the pace and took a one-point lead in the first half. Though they lost it immediately, Chennai team went into superior speed mode at the beginning of the third quarter.
