A woman allegedly committed suicide on the same day of her wedding anniversary not bowing to the pressure of torture from her husband, the woman committed suicide by consuming pesticide on Monday. The incident took place at Veluturlapalli village of Venkatapuram mandal on Monday.
As per the victims relatives, Tatiparti Praveen Rao of Velurturlapalli village was married to Velishala Swapna of Godavarikhani 9years back. They have been blessed with two sons also.
Praveen Rao started harassing Swapna for additional dowry, repeatedly after three years of their marriage. In spite of convincing Praveen Rao several times by the village heads, no change was seen in him. Swapna also made a complaint against Praveen Rao in the police station.
The Godavarikhani police have counseled the duo and sent them back. But, there was no end to his torture on her. Exasperate with his activities, Swapna started staying with her parents in Godavarikhani. Later on, the village heads convinced the couple and sent her back to their home at Velurturlapalli village. But the quarrel between the couple continues.
Swapna and Praveen Rao and their family members went for Medaram Jatara on Sunday. Monday happened to be their marriage ceremony. In preference to marriage celebration, Swapna consumed the pesticide to commit suicide early on Monday.
The relativesof the victim suspect that something might went wrong between the couple there at Medaram which ultimately dragged her to take the extreme step.Swapana died on the way to the hospital. Her father demanded an immediate investigation behind her death and filed a complaint with the police.
