Chandigarh, December 22: The INLD today hailed the CBI court’s verdict sentencing former Haryana DGP S P S Rathore to six month’s rigorous imprisonment in a molestation case saying those who misbehave with women must face action but termed the quantum of punishment given to him as inadequate.
“Those who misbehave with women anywhere must face action,” former Haryana chief minister and INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala said reacting to Rathore getting a six-month jail term yesterday for molesting Ruchika, a teenaged budding tennis player 19 years ago.
He, however, said that the quantum of punishment pronounced by the court is “inadequate and must be more.”
Rejecting suggestions that he tried to shield the officer during his tenure, Chautala said Rathore was immediately removed as DGP when the CBI started investigations into the case in the year 2000.
