Raipur: Chattisgarh government has decided to ban all commercial vehicles like buses older than 12 years and trucks and auto rickshaws older than 10 years from roads. In a high-level meeting on Wednesday chaired by Chief Minister Raman Singh, citing five major sources of increasing pollution in Chhattisgarh as industrial effluents, vehicles’ pollution, construction activities, urban solid waste material, domestic waste and agriculture waste pollution, Singh ordered to prepare a master plan to curb pollution and promote usage of e-rickshaws in the state.
Expressing concern towards increasing pollution levels in Chhattisgarh, Singh called upon senior officers and state environment control board (CECB) to take stern steps to protect environment.
CECB chairperson Aman Kumar Singh explained in detail about present steps being taken to control pollution and cited five major source of pollution in environment. It’s for the first time state decides to get strict towards curbing pollution at different levels and not limiting itself to industrial units only.
