Los Angeles: American actor Charlie Sheen claims that he can no longer afford the hefty 75,000 dollars he chalks out to his former wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller in child support as he says he has been ‘blacklisted’ in Hollywood.
“I have been unable to find steady work and have been blacklisted from many aspects of the entertainment industry. All of this has resulted in a significant reduction in my earnings. I no longer have sufficient income to allow me to pay my child support pursuant to the current order,” Sheen was quoted by the New York Daily as saying on Wednesday.
Sheen currently pays as much as 20,000 dollars to Richards with whom he has daughters aged 13 and 14, while he pays 55,000 dollars to Mueller for the nine-year-old twin sons they had together.
Sheen married Richards in 2002, splitting up in 2006, while he wed Mueller in 2008, with the two getting divorced in 2011.
The former ‘Two and a Half Men’ star, who was one of the highest paid television actors with earnings of 1.8 million dollars per episode, has disclosed his latest monthly earnings at 37,631 dollars, saying that he owed 4,976,000 dollars to the Internal Revenue Service, added to the 26,973 dollars in mortgage payments he was behind on for his seven-bedroom Mediterranean mansion.
He declared 255,165 dollars as cash on hand and nearly one million dollars in stocks and bonds, adding that he was worth an additional 4.6 million dollars equity in real and personal property.
“Sheen’s income has diminished significantly over the past two years. The absence of opportunities in the entertainment industry has developed into a dire financial crisis for him,” Sheen’s legal counsel said.
Court rulings on Wednesday directed Sheen and his former spouses to share financial details, with a hearing set for September 18.
