Bhubaneswar, November 22: A charge sheet has been filed against a Congress MLA of Orissa here for allegedly raping a woman three years ago, police said today.
The charge sheet was filed yesterday against Subal Sahu, legislator from Bijepur assembly constituency in Bargarh district for allegedly raping a woman at his MLA colony residence here in December 2006.
However, the victim lodged a complaint with the police in December, 2008 citing mental agony, depression and fear as reasons behind the delay, police said.
The woman, stated to be known to Sahu’s wife, had visited their house a couple of times and the legislator brought the victim to the state capital promising to arrange a job for her, they said.
After the woman came here, the MLA allegedly assaulted her sexually, they said adding that Sahu had obtained anticipatory bail fearing arrest during investigation.
