Mumbai, November 18: Police today filed a charge sheet in a local court against Raj Thackeray and 20 others for rioting and assault on North Indians appearing for a railway recruitment test here last year accusing the MNS workers of having gone on the rampage at the behest of their Chief.
The 73-page charge sheet, filed before a Magistrate, said, “20 MNS workers who had barged into the college (where the test was held) and tore up the question papers were acting at the behest of Raj Thackeray.”
The North Indians appearing for the railway recruitment examination on October 19 last year at Chetna college in suburban Kherwadi were assaulted as part of the MNS’ agitation against what it termed as the Railway’s policy to issue advertisements in newspapers in North India to attract candidates from that region instead of giving priority to “sons of the soil” (local people).
