The incident took place near Gosi village in Haryana’s Faridabad.
The victim is identified as Azaad, an disabled man who works as an auto-rickshaw driver and also a meat supplier.
When Azaad was on his way to supply the meat to a shop, a mob of self-styled cow vigilantes, or ‘gau rakshaks’ gheraoed his vehicle and brutally thrashed the auto driver when he refused to chant ‘Bharat mata ki jai’ and ‘Jai Hanuman’ as directed by them.

According to The Hindu reports, they also thrash the other four persons who came for his rescue. The assaulter even video-graphed the entire incident on a mobile cell-phone which is going viral on social media.
Interestingly, the whole incident happened in front of some policemen and Faridabad police registered an FIR against the victims under Cow Smuggling Act instead. However, another FIR against the self-styled ‘gau rakshaks’ was yet to be filed.
The meat samples has been sent for forensic examination and lab reports confirm that the confiscated meat from the victims is that of a buffalo’s, reported India Today.

The five victims were currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
A June 2017 report by Indiaspend had revealed that 97 % of violence related to cows since 2010 had taken place after the Narendra Modi led-BJP government came to power in 2014.
