Chandrika Kumaratunga visits Kumarakom

Kottayam, September 16: Former Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga has arrived at Kumarakom near here on a private visit. She arrived from Thiruvananthapuram last night after calling on Chief Minister V S Achutanandan at the Secretariat.

Kumaratunga on her arrival told reporters that she wanted to visit Kerala for a long time and this is for the first time she is coming here. “Kerala and Sri Lanka have historic associations and similarities especially in food habits,” she said.

She will leave for Kochi tomorrow to attend a function.
