Chandrababu says NBWs would not deter his fight for a cause

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asserted that notices and arrest warrants would not deter his determination to take up and fight for peoples cause.

Reacting to the reported issue of Non Bailable Warrant against him and others by the Maharashtra Police in connection with an eight-year old issue of his agitation against the construction of Babli Project, Chandrababu Naidu pointed out that he had not committed any crime. He was protesting against the project keeping in view the interests of the Telugu people as the Babli project would turn the North Telangana districts into a desert.

After inaugurating the Jalasri programme at Srisailam Dam site in Kurnool district today, Chandrababu Naidu referred to the NBW issued against him other TDP leaders and explained since the Babli Project was detrimental to the water needs of the people of North Telangana districts as it would adversely affect the Sriramsagar Project, he had planned the protest dharna against the move. But before he and his party leaders could reach the project site they were arrested at the Maharashtra border and subjected to innumerable difficulties. Later we forcibly airlifted and dropped at Hyderabad, he said and added that now they are talking about warrants and notices after eight years.

Now the issue of NBW against Chandrababu Naidu and others has triggered off a war of words between the TDP and BJP leaders. Taking umbrage against the TDP leaders accusing the Narendra Modi Government at the centre and BJP of indulging in political vendetta, the State BJP leaders including Kanna Lakshminarayan, Purandeshwari and others refuted the charges as false and baseless. They asserted the Maharashtra Police had acted based on the fact that despite issuing 22 notices in connection with the case, the TDP leaders have not responded till now.

Interestingly even the APCC President N. Raghuveera Reddy too demanded for immediate withdrawal of the NBW issued to Chandrababu Naidu and others and an unconditional apology. Meanwhile the TDP leaders belonging to both the Telugu States wanted the immediate intervention of Telangana care taker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to ensure the withdrawal of the NBW since Chandrababu Naidu had fought for the interests of the people of North Telangana districts.
