New Delhi/Amaravati: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will be in the national capital to discuss the demand for special status for the state, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
“I have spoken to the Chief Minster and I am confident we will find a satisfying solution. The Chief Minister (Naidu) will be in the town to discuss,” Jaitley said replying to the debate on Supplementary Demands for Grants (General) for 2016-17.
“We are conscious that justice has to be done to Andhra Pradesh as it has lost out due to creation of Telangana,” Jaitley said.
This is the second such assurance by the Finance Minister on the issue within two days. On August 2, Jaitley told the Lok Sabha that “the government stands by the commitments it has made in supporting Andhra Pradesh to the fullest”.
“I have had a word with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and we are trying to find a solution to these issues,” he said. The TDP said the party will maintain a “wait-and-watch” policy on issue.
