Govt. of Telangana is persuading industrialists to setup their units in the State but the chances of taking Nizam Sugar Factory of Bodhan in Govt. control seem to be bleak. The formers producing sugarcane are disappointed. In 2002, TDP Govt. had given the three units of NSF situated in Shakkar Nagar, Metpalli and Medak to private parties. In 2004 Congress assumed power, Mr. KCR was given labour portfolio in Central Govt. which sent a good message to the farmers of NSF. It may be noted that in 2002, many employees of NSF were forcibly made to retire. They were hoping that their children will be given jobs in NSF but nothing has happened. During Congress regime from 2004-2014 Govt. gave several assurances that the factory will be taken under Govt. control. Former CM of A.P. Dr. YSR constituted a sub-committee to elicit report for taking the factory under Govt. control. In 2007 the committee recommended the Govt. to take the factory into its custody. Worried with the delay, the formers and employees approach the court. The court decided in favour of the employees but before the implementation of the court judgment, Congress Govt. lost power. It may be noted during the tenure of Congress Govt., TRS leaders Mr. KCR, Mr. N. Narasimha Reddy and Mr. Harish Rao had led the protest meetings of the employees. Now that TRS has assumed power, it is imperative on the part of the Govt. to take necessary steps to take NSF into its control otherwise it will be presumed that like TDP and Congress, TRS is also not interested in taking over NSF under its control.
