Vijayawada, July 26: It has become more or less clear that former secretary of the Andhra Cricket Association, Chamundeswarinath would not be attending its annual general body meeting.
He has dashed off a letter to ACA president Gokaraju Gangaraju questioning the validity of the AGM.
Gangaraju, however, instisted that the AGM was a regular meeting of the association and “nobody had any right to question it’’. The ACA was conducting the AGM in accordance with the bylaws, he said.
The general body meeting, to be headed by Gangaraju, who has been spearheading the fight against Chamundi for his alleged sexual advances towards some women cricketers, will seek his explanation before passing a resolution ratifying his removal as secretary. It may be recalled that a few women cricketers, including former captain of the Andhra women’s cricket team Savita Kumari had alleged that Chamundi had misbehaved with them. Their statements were recorded by the police.
Gangaraju, who has also charged Chamundi with misappropriating ACA money while buying chairs for the stadium in Visakhapatnam, claims to have the support of 40 members out of 42. His claim, if true, would mean certain expulsion of Chamundi from the ACA and in effect, even from the BCCI.
