Mumbai, August 15 : Dia Mirza, who was recently in the city told us how she rates today’s youth on the freed-o-meter.
She said, “I’ve met people who were young during the time of our independence and I feel that their sense of belonging to the Independence Day is probably far greater than ours. Since today’s generation is born in a free world, it’s a very chalta hai type generation.
They take things for granted. And this goes onto show that their parents have been too busy trying to make ends meet. There is so much disillusionment; the government has too many inefficiencies. The result is that the regular kids get beaten around and this creates a lot of angst. We need to learn to value, cherish and make the most of what is left. Our problem is that we only tend to brush the surface. We have to try and go into the details. There is no indepth understanding of issues and patriotism is alien to kids who live in the metropolitan cities.”
