Hyderabad, September 14: Traffic police are in a fix with some aggrieved motorists posting abusive messages on its recently launched Facebook wall (page).
The police, shocked by the messages, initially did not know how to address the issue, but have now decided to register a criminal case against the netizen who used unparliamentary languages against them. The traffic police, in its reply, posted a terse reply, “We will register a criminal case against you”.
“Within minutes after the post, he deleted all his personal information from his Facebook account. Henceforth, we have decided to save the photograph and the login ID of the user who uses such languages so that criminal action can be initiated,” additional commissioner of police (Traffic) CV Anand told.
Police said they were witnessing a new trend as other users came to their rescue and pulled up those who had heaped insults on them. However, the language of some of the users (Saeed and Mustaq Ahmed), who earlier slammed the police, became sober now. “It is a challenge to curb misuse of the platform as Facebook is generally used by people, especially IT professionals and youngsters, for sharing their experiences and grievances with us,” he added. The traffic police might try to initiate action against netizens posting objectionable contents on their page, but a full-fledged smear campaign has begun against them at ‘I Hate Hyderabad Traffic Police’ on FB with the caption ‘CHALLAN CHALLAN KARTE HAIN, CHALLAN PE YE MARTE HAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!’. However, police are helpless about such a campaign.
“Everyday 200-300 users are tagging on to the official Hyderabad traffic police forum. Now, we have crossed 10,000 users. Most importantly, they are getting their doubts cleared,” Anand added.
A few motorists have been highlighting how traffic police violate traffic rules. Many motorists, who were peeved at being issued e-challans despite not violating rules, are demanding proofs on the social networking site.
