The Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu, has said that the fire occurred in the Jubilee Hall due to a spark in the Air Condition Unit. The Thermo-coal and damber have the nature of connecting easily to fire and hence the fire spread in fast. The officials have become alert immediately to the incident.
Speaking to the media after visiting the spot where the fire occurred in the Jubilee Hall, he said that the Air Condition Unit equipment was totally burnt in the fire accident, and there was no more loss. The Jubilee Hall was constructed in 1936. The building belongs to the Archeology department. “We asked them to inquire about the fire. There is no harm to the main structure and no damage to the roof. No loss of wealth”, he said.
Legislative Council Chairman Dr Chakrapani has said that he visited the spot along with Sridhar Babu. There was no damage to the main hall. Nothing has happened to the Council Hall. All Files are safe.
He said that he would consider the proposal of stationing of fire engine on a permanent basis in the premises of Legislative Council. He said that Jubilee Hall was a heritage building and hence all protective steps should be taken. (NSS)
