Chairman Telangana Waqf Board issues notice to stop auction of Waqf property in Bhongir

Hyderabad: Chairman Telangana Waqf Board and MLC Mohammed Saleem sent a team comprising of Waqf Board officials to stop the auction of Waqf property located at Bhongir Mandal and directed legal action against the offenders.

Officials of the State Waqf Board met District Collector and officials of Indian Overseas Bank and explained Telangana Waqf Board’s stand. They handed over the notice to stop the auction of 2 acres 39 guntas of land in survey no 175 of Bhongir Mandal.

The encroacher of the land attached to Dargah Hazrat Haji Ibrahim sahib had taken the loan from the bank, keeping the land as surety. On non-repayment of the loan, the Indian Overseas Bank had issued auction notice on March 14. On receipt of information, Chairman Telangana Waqf Board immediately sent a team to talk to the stake holders. They were told that the land is Waqf and a gazette was also issued in 1990 in this connection.
