Chain snatching kills woman, police register murder case

The Osmania University police have registered a case of murder against unidentified men whose chain snatching offence killed a 40-year-old woman.

The incident occurred on July 17 near Law College in the OU premises. While the victim, P Sumitra, was travelling on a motorcycle along with her son Sanjeev, two unidentified men came from behind on a bike, snatched her 3.5 tola gold chain and sped away. Consequently, she fell on the road and sustained a grievous head injury. She was admitted to the Gandhi Hospital where she succumbed in the early hours of Saturday.

Sumitra was a resident of Barkatpura and used to work as an attender in a school.

OU Police have registered a case under Sections 320 and 382 IPC and began investigation. (INN)
