New Delhi, April 05: A Delhi court has jailed a man to seven years of imprisonment for snatching gold jewelleries and other valuables from two people, including a woman, in north Delhi last year.
Additional Sessions Judge Bimla Kumari, while sending convict Ashu Sharma alias Himanshu, 21, to jail, said women and public are afraid of wearing jewelleries and appropriate sentence should be awarded to “protect the society”.
“Now a days, cases of chain snatching are increasing day by day in the city. The women and public are not safe on the road and they are afraid of wearing jewellery. To curb this evil, it is necessary that appropriate sentence should be awarded to the convict to protect the society,” the court said.
