CPI Telangana State Council has requested the Chief Minister KCR to take steps on a war footing to solve the acute drinking water problem being faced by the people in different areas in the State, particularly in Girijan thandas.
In a letter to the Chief Minister today, CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy pointed out that while people were dying in large numbers due to the severe heat wave conditions, shortage of water added to their woes. Tanks and lakes dried up and the bore wells were not working as the water table fell too deep. In many Girijan thandas, people were trekking long distances to fetch water, he said and wanted the Chief Minister to arrange supply of water through tankers to the affected villages. He also said that many of the water tanks were under repair, as a result of which people were put to hardships for want of potable drinking water.(NSS)
