CEO stabbed inside home

Gurgaon, May 13: In Gurgaon, forget being safe on the road, you are not safe in your own house. This is what the Adani Power Limited (APL) CEO and director R.K. Madan (68) found out on Monday night. Madan was stabbed 10 times, mostly on the head, by two armed assailants in his own bedroom in his house in DLF City. He was asleep when the assailants struck. His wife was sleeping with their 16-year-old daughter in another room, the police said. Pooja, Madan’s elder daughter, who lives in Heritage City, a little distance from K-block of DLF Phase II, said the incident occurred around 2.45 am. “There were probably two assailants who entered my father’s room. Sensing their presence, my father woke up. It was then that they attacked him with daggers. He has suffered seven stab wounds on his head, both his arms are fractured and he has lost a finger,” she said.

She further said that despite bleeding profusely from his wounds, her father called up the police himself, asked a guard in the lane for help, and woke up her mother. He was rushed to Max hospital in Sushant Lok by the Police and neighbours. But, Pooja is happy that her father survived the attacked. “I am proud of my father who fought the assailants and forced them to flee,” she said.

Meanwhile, the doctors attending to Madan, a cardiac patient, said he was out of danger despite his wounds, but had to be given 40 stitches on his head. Dr Raghav Mantri, a plastic surgeon at Max Hospital, said the patient was sinking when he was brought to the hospital as he was a cardiac patient and had lost a lot of blood. “He has a total of 10 cut marks and seven of these are on his forehead and scalp only. But he has miraculously survived the fatal attack on him and is out of danger,” he said.

Adani Power Limited is a subsidiary company of US $ 5 billion Adani group and Madan is the CEO and Director of APL. Madan who has been with the group for seven years, had previously worked with UPSEB, NHPC, Power Grid and Power Trading Corporation of India.
