CEO gives nod for organising Rythu Chaitanya Sadassus

Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal on Thursday gave green signal to the State Government to hold Rythu Chaitanya Sadassu across the States, except for 12 districts where by-elections are to be held on June 12.

Talking to reporters at the State Secretariat, Bhanwarlal said that the State Government could organise the Rythu Chaitanyua Sadassu as it was not political in nature. However, he said another programme Rythu Sadassus should be held only after June 15.

Bhanwarlal said that he did not receive any complaint or demand with regard to covering the statues of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Therefore, no action is proposed in this regard. However, he said he has asked the Chittoor District Collector for a report on the controversy surrounding the entry of YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Lord Venkateshwara Temple without signing the declaration of faith.

The CEO also informed that he would review all the election-related cases since 2009. He said while about 40 complaints were received during Cuddapah by-elections, nearly 140 cases were reported in the last by-elections held for seven assembly segments in the State. He said he plans to review all the cases afresh. Further, the Income Tax Department would review the cases related to seizure of property, cash and gold.

Bhanwarlal said that all arrangements have been made for the meeting of SPs, Collectors and Election Officials of 12 districts with Deputy Election Commissioner Vijay Zutshi to be held on May 5 at Jubilee Hall. (INN)
