Hyderabad: Telangana State Wakf Board had given incentives to the officers who collected arrears of rents of Wakf properties. For the first time in the history of Wakf Board, the officers have given a befitting reply to those who raise their fingers challenging their honesty.
Mr. Mohammed Asadullah, CEO of Wakf Board and lady Accounts Officer returned the amounts given to them as incentives. They returned these amounts along with interest to the Secretary of Minorities Welfare Dept. Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS through a letter. Mr. Omer Jaleel instructed the officials of Wakf Board to deposit these amounts in the Wakf Board Account. In this manner, the campaign launched against the CEO practically failed.
It may mentioned that Wakf Board had passed a resolution to give incentives to its employees who show better performance in collecting revenues for Wakf Board. A sum of Rs. 1.5 crore was sanctioned by Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel for this purpose Rs. 4.95 lakh was distributed among 24 employees. The local political party had raised this issue in the House Committee of Assembly and had demanded to take action against the employees who received these intensive amounts . Although, the Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare had supported his action but it was on the agenda of the House Committee.
In fact, the elements who were against the honest and impartial functioning of Mr. Mohammed Asadullah exploited this issue to defame him. Mr. Mohammed Asadullah gave a befitting reply to these elements by returning the amounts with interests which speaks of his honesty.
It may be mentioned that there is a tradition to give incentives to the employees whose performance is extraordinary. Such persons were given incentive amounts with other allowances during the past 10 years. Rs. 21587 and Rs. 36604 were paid which were returned as Rs. 61233 (including interest). The lady accounts officer also returned Rs.31000 to the Wakf Board. The action taken by these officers by returning these amounts has created panic among the other employees who received cash as incentive. There are some employees who are of lower grades. They are not in a position to refund the amounts taken by them. The employees of Wakf Board were irritated for making this issue controversial. Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel applauded the steps taken by CEO and AO for returning the money.
