Centre will not give Telangana, alleges Vidyasagar Rao

Senior BJP leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Sunday alleged that the expansion of Union Cabinet was a clear indication that the Centre was not interested in giving statehood for the Telangana region.

Talking to reporters here, Vidyasagar Rao alleged that the Congress leaders from the region have compromised on the issue facilitating the inclusion of two MPs from Telangana in the Union Cabinet. The selection of Mahboobabad MP Balram Naik and Malkajgiri MP Sarve Satyanarayana clearly indicates that the Congress High Command successfully suppressed the pro-Telangana voices within the Congress party by offering them berths in Union Cabinet, he said.

Vidyasagar Rao said that all pro-Telangana groups should intensify their agitation to achieve statehood for the region. However, he also expressed doubts over the commitment of Congress leaders from the region over the Telangana issue.

The BJP leader also appealed to the people to observe Andhra Pradesh Formation Day on November 1 as “Telangana Betrayal Day”.
