Hyderabad, January 23:The Ramagundam MLA, Mr Somarapu Sathyanarayana, has opined that the UPA government at the Centre would adopt the Congress party decision on Telangana and it would not be different from what the Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, said in Delhi on Friday.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Mr Sathyanarayana said that the UPA government will take a decision after consulting all its constituents on the issue. Exuding confidence that the Centre would carve out separate Telangana State, Mr Sathyanarayana said that the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee noted in its report that the Special Economic Zones were a few in Telangana and more in Seemandhra region. The natural gas was also available in the Seemandhra region, he pointed out.
Finding fault with the Committee report, Mr Sathyanarayana said that the Committee has clearly mentioned in the first option that it was not possible to keep the State united further and also mentioned that the sixth option was the best and the State should remain as it is. He also questioned the Committee report saying how it was possible to the Committee to mention two irrelevant options. He said that as the special economic packages experiments have failed in the past, the Centre has only one option the fifth recommendation to bifurcate the State.
Mr Sathyanarayana said that the Telangana Congress leaders were pressurizing the High Command to introduce Telangana Bill in the forthcoming budget session of Parliament. He urged the high command to make a favorable statement on Telangana in case introduction of Telangana Bill in Parliament was not possible. He also made it clear that it was not easy to participate in the Rachchabanda programme in the Telangana region though it was intended to extend some benefits to the poor people. He said that the Telangana Congress leaders should ensure that the schemes reached the poor even though they could not make their presence felt in the programme.
The MLC, Mr Kanukula Janardhan Reddy, said that they would abide by the decision taken by the Congress high command. (NSS)
