Centre urged road funds: Tummala

Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageshwar Rao today called on Union Surface and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in Delhi and urged him to  release funds to take up national highways works and arrears for the existing projects in the state. Telanagana special representatives in Delhi S Venugopala Chary, Ramachandra Tejavath and TRS MPs were present in the meeting with Gadkari.

Later, Nageshwar Rao told media persons that they have submitted detailed project reports (DPR) pertaining to proposals of national highways. The minister said that the union minister offered to give Rs 400 crore towards CRF scheme against the appeal for  Rs 800 crore. The meeting assumes significance as the Centre had  already given its nod for developing 1951 km stretch state highways into national highways. The union Minister promised to give permissions for developing national highways to Hyderabad from Sanga Reddy and Airport roads. ‘We have asked for immediate release  of Rs 1350 crore arrears for LWE works’, Rao said.
