Hyderabad, October 05: To recover from the devastation created by floods, the State Government is urging the Central Government to declare it a national calamity and extend funds generously.
The State has also sought help from the National Calamity Contingency Fund.
Before conducting an aerial survey of the flooded areas, Chief Minister K Rosaiah said that all possible help was being extended to flood victims by the State Government.
About 2.57 lakh victims were being accommodated at 293 relief camps in the districts of Kurnool, Mahboobnagar, Krishna, Guntur, Nalgonda and others.
Officials said 37 persons were found dead during the floods and the toll is likely to rise after the water recedes.
The Chief Minister said that the inflows into both Srisailam and Jurala projects were decreasing steadily since last night.
