Centre suspends Geelani’s passport for four weeks

Srinagar: The Government on Tuesday suspended the passport of hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani for four weeks.

The suspension means that Geelani will now not be able to travel to New York to attend the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting at the United Nations Headquarters.

Geelani was invited to attend the OIC meeting in the past, but could not attend it as he did not have the required travel documents.

The Ministry of External Affairs had recently released Geelani’s travel documents so that he could meet his ailing daughter in Saudi Arabia. (ANI)
