Centre to supply more gas to strike-hit AP

New Delhi, September 26: Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy on Sunday assured that the Centre would provide additional gas to the gas-based power plants of Andhra Pradesh to help the State Government overcome power crisis that has arisen due to the general strike in Telangana region.

In a letter written to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Union Minister said that the Centre was ready to supply additional gas and an arrangement would be through the Gas Authority of India Limited. He refuted the reports stating that the Centre has denied giving additional gas to Andhra Pradesh. He said that his ministry was in receipt of request by the Chief Minister and it has been considered.

Jaipal Reddy also denied the reports of some MPs from Telangana region asking him not to supply the gas. Describing such reports as baseless, he said no MPs from the Andhra Pradesh has approached him on that issue.
