Anantapur, February 21: CPI State secretary K. Narayana attributed the on-going political crisis in the State to unkept promises of Congress government and the indecisiveness of the Central government in taking a decision on Telangana issue.
Addressing a press conference at the party office here on Sunday, he was of the view that the Union Government is dragging the issue of Telangana indefinitely without taking a concrete decision. By doing so it is loosing the confidence of the people and its inaction is triggering dissatisfaction among the people and also a movement against the ruling Congress government.
Even after the Srikrishna Committee submitted its report to the government almost two months ago, the government is sitting over it and is whiling away time, he said.
Fee reimbursement
He found fault with the government for trying to divert the issue of its failure in reimbursement of fee. He said the government is trying to rake up the issue of bogus engineering colleges as nothing but diverting the actual issue. The government can single out such colleges and release the amount, he said.
Replying to a question, he said that Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy receiving wide response to his dharna is nothing surprising as the issue for which he is agitating is a burning public issue.
On the inability of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to expose the names of the Swiss bank account holders, he said that he had never seen an inefficient Prime Minister as Manmohan Singh.
Commenting on the dubious role of Governors in the country, he demanded the abolishment of the institution of Governor. He said that the recent happenings in the Assembly are part of democracy and did not think that the suspension of members from the Assembly is justified.
On the failure of Opposition parties in moving a no-confidence motion in the Assembly, he said that every political party has its own agenda and did not thing it as the failure of the Opposition.
Responding to a question, Mr. Narayana said that he did not think that Governor’s rule would be imposed in the State as it would boomerang on the ruling Congress party’s prospects.
State Rythu Sangam president K. Rama Krishna said that its two-day State conference will start at Yadagirigutta from Monday.
The meeting will draw action plan on future agitations to be launched.
