The Central Government will spend Rs 600 crore for the successful conduct of Bio-Diversity Convention to be held in the city from October 1 to 19.
Addressing a press conference in the State Secretariat, AP Bio-Diversity Board chairman Dr R Hampiah informed that the arrangements were in full swing fo the conference. He said that 12 separate committees have been constituted to provide accommodation, transportation facility and security to more than 10,000 delegates from 198 countries.
Hyderabad International Convention Center, Hitex and Shilparamam have been selected as venues for the convention. From October 1 to 5, meetings would be held to address Bio Technology and Bio Safety Protocol in which delegates from 60 countries would participate. The second phase of the convention will start from October 8. Heads of 7 to 8 countries and more than 250 Ministers of various countries would participate in this convention. he said.
Heads of countries may also participate in the event from October 16 to 19.
Dr R Hampiah said that two working groups have been constituted for the event who would classify the member countries and subjects to address on priority basis. He said that the arrangements were in full swing by the Ministry of Forest and Environment. (INN)
