New Delhi, August 14: The Centre has sought a report from the Madhya Pradesh government on the 600 tonnes of explosives having gone missing while being transported from Rajasthan.
“It is a very serious matter. We have asked the Madhya Pradesh government to send a report immediately,” a Home Ministry official said.
About 600 tonnes of explosives sent from a Rajasthan-based factory have gone missing on their way to Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh.
The 61 trucks carrying the explosives were sent from Rajasthan Explosives and Chemicals Limited at Dholpur to a trading company in Sagar.
The explosives, worth Rs. 1.30 crore, were sent over four months, from April to July.
Sagar Inspector-General Anvesh Manglam said the last consignment was to have reached Sagar four days ago, but there was no trace of the vehicle or the explosives.
Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta said an investigation was under way, and efforts were being made to trace the trucks.
“Four police teams have been sent to Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.”
