Telangana Political JAC convener Prof. Kodandaram has alleged that the Centre was rendering injustice to both the tates – Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with its unscientific decision on Polavaram issue.
Prof. Kodandaram today participated in a protest organized at the RTC crossroads and strongly opposed the Polavaram Ordinance Bill (AP Reorganization (Amendment) Bill) which was adopted by Parliament.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kodandaram made it clear that they would not remain calm if the Polavaram project was constructed submerging hundreds of tribal hamlets. He alleged that the Polavaram project was taken up only to benefit contractors to the tune of Rs 20,000 crores. For irrigation and drinking water, there were alternatives to Polavaram project, he added. He also strongly opposed merger of seven mandals of Telangana State into Andhra Pradesh State. It would not be acceptable to entire Telangana people, he added.
