New Delhi, Aug.5 : Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the government has created a Council for Trade Development and Promotion on July 3 this year with the objective of ensuring a continuous dialogue with state governments and union territories on measures for providing an international trade enabling environment in the states and to create a framework for making states active partners in boosting India’s exports.
In a written reply given to the Rajya Sabha, Sitharaman said, “All the states and UTs have already been communicated about the constitution of the aforesaid Council, including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.”
She said that the ministers of trade and commerce are members of the council along with other stake holders and trade organizations such as FICCI and ASSOCHAM etc. (ANI)
