Centre to come out with ‘polished policy’ against Naxalism

Lucknow, April 10: The Centre would come out with a “polished policy” on Naxalism and close cooperation between Delhi and the states was necessary for dealing with it, Union Minister for Food Processing Subodh Kant Sahay said on Friday.

Central forces cannot deal with the challenge alone without the cooperation of the states. The states have to understand its seriousness and not consider it merely as a law and order problem Sahay said and referred to the recent meeting on the issue in Kolkata which was not attended by Jharkhand and Bihar chief ministers.

He asked the states and political leadership to put it on top of their political agenda and said that it was not the time to demand the resignation of the union home minister.

The minister said that the future course of action would be chalked out on the report of a committee headed by former DG, BSF.

He said socio-economic measures were also necessary for combating left wing extremism and referred to Andhra Pradesh.
