TDP senior leader Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu has stated that the central government instead of helping the government of the state ruled by Congress party was burdening the people and making their lives miserable.
Talking to the media here on Tuesday, he said that instead of coming to the aid of the state, the central government was diverting 40 lakh MMSCMD gas produced in the state to Gujarat and Maharashtra, despite knowing that the state was in a deep power crisis. He said even coal produced in AP was being taken away to other states. He has also alleged that the central government was bringing pressure on the state government not to give free power, do away with subsidies to domestic and small scale industrial users and fix metres and collect charges. He said because of the policies of the central and state governments the state was pushed into a deep power crisis. He has also alleged that it was because of the late Chief Minister Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s negligence of the power sector that the present situation arose. He said though his party has told the government to lay new lines, set up sub-stations and cut power transmission losses, the government had not heeded and the present crisis was caused because of this negligence.
Naidu has said that the government had permitted collection of Rs. 1400 cr. in the name of surcharges during the first 3 months of 2012-13 and would be collecting Rs. 5400 crore during the entire year. Totally the government would be collecting power charges and surcharges to the tune of Rs. 24,000 crore since it came to power, Naidu added.
Referring to the viral fevers rampant in the state, Naidu said the central government has stopped the Rs. 1200 crore it was giving to handle this problem for the past 3 years and turned AP into Roga Andhra Pradesh. He said as there were 3,000 doctor and 3000 nurse posts were vacant, proper health care could not be taken in government hospials. He said as the government has not included viral fevers in the Arogya Sri programme, people were spending lakhs of rupees for treatment in private hospitals. He said though the state needed to have 2200 PHCs as per the population, it had only 1600.
He said the union health minister instead of concentrating on these problems was visiting Hyderabad only to attend personal functions. Stating that the state government was in coma, he has said it would not matter if such government was dead or alive. (NSS)
