Centre bows to Chandrababu pressure on HC Division: KTR

Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj K Taraka Ramarao today criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for becoming a stumbling block in the bifurcation of the High Court. The minister demanded that the Centre take an immediate decision to ivide the High Court and set up a separate one.

Talking to mediapersons here on Sunday, KTR accused the BJP government at the Centre of dilly-dallying on the issue despite persistent requests from the Telangana Government. On fifth day after taking over as chief minister of Telangana, KCR had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a call on the essentiality of the division of the State’s apex court. “We are making relentless efforts and are ready to oblige whatever the Centre asks us to do with regard to separate high court”, he said, adding that the Chief Minister called on the Prime Minister thrice and requested him to divide the high court.

Taraka Ramarao accused AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of sabotaging division of the high court among two States. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has time and again urged the Centre to expedite the process of high court division issue. Despite repeated reminders, the AP Chief Minister was creating obstacles in this regard, he alleged. When all departments were divided, why not the high court be divided, he asked. He also attributed to the inordinate delay over bifurcation of the high court to the obstruction being caused by none other than Chandrababu Naidu.

The BJP government should not delay the issue which will only compound the problem and lead to chaos among the advocates in Telangana State, who are on warpath for the division. He also stated that the TRS, which accomplished the mission of statehood, would certainly achieve separate high court. he Centre should at least now take a final call, he said and ridiculed BJP Graduate MLC candidate N Ramchander Rao seeking votes using Chandrababu Naidu’s Photo. KTR also slammed Ramchander Rao, being an advocate, for not extending cooperation to Telangana Advocates’ fight for separate high court. (NSS)
