Hyderabad, October 21: Two Central teams, each comprising eight members, will soon visit the State to assess the damage caused to crops and properties by floods and drought and recommend assistance from the National Calamities Contingency Fund (NCCF).
A communication to this effect was received by the State government on Tuesday following submission of two separate reports to the Centre on the loss caused by these calamities.
The first team, headed by Upma Chowdary, joint secretary, Agriculture, will arrive in Hyderabad on October 24 and visit the drought-affected districts in three groups for the next three days, undertaking field studies to assess the loss.
Strange situation
Similarly, the second team, headed by D. Deepti Vilas, joint secretary, Home Affairs, will reach here on October 26 to visit the flood-hit areas for three days.
Both the teams will conclude their visits with wrap-up meetings with Chief Minister K. Rosaiah on the last day when they leave for Delhi.
This is the first time that the State is affected by two diametrically opposite situations of drought and floods and is being visited by two Central teams simultaneously.
