To assess crop loss and damage occurred, a Central team comprising Secretary and other officials today paid a visit to Telangana.
The team discussed the issue with Union Minister for Labor and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya on the occasion. The minister informed the team about the crop loss in lakhs of acres, damage of assets and cattle loss at various places. The meeting assumes importance as Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu and Dattatreya earlier promised to provide adequate financial succor to the victims of the crop loss and the kin of deceased in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States.
The two Union ministers visited the crop-hit districts in the two States and assured that the Centre will help the farmers. It is learnt that Dattatreya asked the official team to give better compensation to the victims in the two States. The team, in turn, assured to submit a report to the Centre for a suitable financial assistance. (NSS)
