A Central team led by Shambhu Singh today called on Chief Secretary PK Mohanty and submitted a report on damages related to Cyclones Helen and Leher. The team held a high level review meeting with Mohanty and other officials and shared their views on damage and assessment.
Mohanty appealed through a memorandum to the team to provide an immediate financial succor of Rs 344 crore by the Center. The team expressed satisfaction on the report seeking financial succor. According to an estimation East, West Godavari districts, Krishna and Guntur districts suffered a heavy loss of crops, assets and others.
Mohanty asked the team to impress upon the Center to release funds towards victims of Phailin cyclone. As per the report submitted to the team are – 1745 villages of 10 districts affected in cyclone that led to evacuate a total of 1,09,571 people to safer places. While 9 people died, 7499 houses damaged and 311 relief camps conducted by the government. The team assured of an adequate financial assistance to the state government. It will leave for national capital on Saturday.
