The central govt has nodded the head to Pextend the required financial, technical and other assistance to the state government to provide 24X7 power supply to consumers, after including Telangana in the central government’s ‘Power For All’ scheme.
After including Andhra Pradesh in ‘Power for All’ scheme, the Telangana government too urged the Centre to include it in the scheme, saying it is also facing shortage of power.
An 8-member high-level delegation from the Union power ministry, headed by joint secretary Jyoti Arora, held day-long discussions with officials of the state energy department on implementation of PFA in Telangana.
On its part, the state government will have to prepare a project report on PFA within one month’s time and send it to the Union ministry of power.
Power will be generated in the state, and Power distribution too will be done by the state under PFA. But, to meet the state’s target, the Centre will provide the financial and technical assistance to the state.
But, how much amount the state is going to get for PFA is not clear yet. The quantum of money will be known only when the project report is finalised,” an official said.
