Center returns Land Acquisition bill to the State

Hyderabad: Center has returned the Land Acquisition bill which was passed in the Telangana Assembly in December 2016. Center has advised the State Govt. to convene a special session of Assembly to make amendments as suggested by Govt. of India.

It may be mentioned that the State Govt. had sent this bill in January this year for getting the assent of President of India. Keeping this bill in pending for three months, Govt. of India raised many questions and ultimately returned it to the State Govt. instead of sending it to President of India. Govt. of Telangana had hopes that this bill would get the assent of President of India. Govt. of India suggested certain amendment in it.

It may be mentioned that Mr. KCR has already announced that a special of Telangana Assembly would be held for passing a resolution for providing 12% reservations to Muslims. Now with the advice of the Central Govt., it has become necessary for the State Govt. to convene special session of the Assembly. Govt. of Telangana has plans to amend land acquisition bill.
