Celkon Mobiles today expressed interest to set up its mobile handsets manufacturing unit in the state. A delegation led by Y Guru, Celkon Mobiles, who called on the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at Camp Office here this evening, said the company wanted to set up its unit at Maheshwaram on its own land with projected investment of Rs 500 crore in the first year.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to examine the proposal and assured to extend all possible assistance from the Government. Mr Guru stated that they have a fully equipped R&D office located in Cyber towers and currently having China and Taiwan’s Original Equipment Manufacturers as technology and manufacturing partners. They are also projecting an employment of about 2500 people through the new unit.
