As the life ban imposed in December 2000, was set aside by the AP High Court, the cricketer-turned politician Mohammed Azharuddin bowed down to Allah (swt). It was celebrations at the residence of Mohammed Azharuddin as supporters thronged to congratulate the former Indian captain.
It must be recalled that the life ban was imposed on him 12 years ago by the BCCI, for match-fixing and involvement with bookies. Azhar had challenged the ban in the High Court.
Commenting upon the lifting of ban by the High Court, Congress leader and Azhar’s brother-in-law Mr. Mohammed Khaleequr Rahman who was also present at Azhar’s residence said “Khuda ke ghar der hai, andher nahin”
