Celebrating World Cancer Survivors Day

Hyderabad, June 03: Apollo Cancer Hospitals, Hyderabad and CURE Foundation have organised a unique two day event titled, ‘I am a SURVIVOR’, celebrating the World Cancer Survivors Day, which will conclude today. The festivities was formally inaugurated by the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Danam Nagender in the presence of Tollywood hero Rana Daggubati, Dr Hari Prasad, CEO, Apollo Health City, Dr Vijay Anand Reddy, Director, Apollo Cancer Hospital as well as many brave cancer survivors amongst others.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vijay Anand Reddy said, “Cancer was always perceived as a death sentence, but cancer can be treated with the technology and treatments available today. The cancer survivors are the real heroes, they have successfully combated and conquered the dreaded cancer disease.”

Rana Daggubati also spoke a few words at the event. He said, “People always think cancer means death, but this is not true anymore. Patients should not lose hope, they should fight with a strong will against cancer and overcome the disease. Apollo Cancer Hospital and Cure Foundation are doing a fantastic job in combating cancer and wish them the best to continue the good work.”

‘I am a SURVIVOR’ is a festival exemplifying the cancer survivors of the world, their journey and their demonstration of endurance. Round table sessions for cancer patients will be organized throughout the two days. During these sessions, cancer survivors-living examples of what people can go through and survive, will share their experience in combating the dreaded disease and for counseling the patients. Patients can interact with Cancer specialists and explore the latest diagnosis and treatment options available today.

The festivities will conclude with the ‘Cancer Survivors’ Carnival’ being organised today at 4 pm. Chief Guest, actress Anushka Shetty will interact with survivors. Many cancer survivors will be performing at the event.
