Celebrating New Year is against Islamic teachings: scholars and clerics

Hyderabad, December 29: Declaring the involvement of Muslim youth in drinking and dancing on new year night as purely against Islamic teachings, Maulana Syed Shah Fazalullah Qaudri Almausuvi, sajjada nasheen Dargah Shareef, Hazrat Syed Moosa Qaudri, Maulana Syed Ghulam Samdani Ali Qaudri general secretary Markazi Anjuman Qadria, Maulana Syed Saifullah Husaini Qaudri, Hakeem Syed Ali Razvi Qaudri, Maulana Mohammad Mastan Ali Qaudri chief organisor Jamiatul Mominat, Mr. Mohammad Affan Qaudri general secretary Maher organization in a joint statement said that celebrating and observing these kind of functions and attending them is purely against the Islamic teaching. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said ‘Whoever imitates a nation is one of them.’

They further stated it has been seen for the past few years that Muslim women are purchasing new year cakes on December 31; this has no place in Islam rather it is strongly prohibited.

The scholars and clerics said that it is deplorable that western culture is fast penetrating into the Muslim society and it has negative effects on the Muslim society.
