Bengaluru: Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Rawat met representatives of political parties on Wednesday during his two-day visit to Karnataka to review readiness for the coming assembly polls.
“The CEC held a closed-door meeting with representatives of political parties from the state and later met the nodal officers and Income Tax officials in the city to check their preparedness ahead of the elections,” a senior official from the state poll panel told IANS here.
Rawat will be meeting the Deputy Commissioners from all 30 districts of the southern state as well as the Superintendents and Commissioners of Police on Thursday, the official said.
The visit is said to be a “routine” procedure held two-three months ahead of the elections in any poll-bound state.
Assembly elections in the state are due in late April-early May.
